Troubleshooting & Problem Solving

”We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” (Albert Einstein)

As a human race, we are born solution making machines, we love solutions to things, and yet many times we are more focussed on the solution we want to put in that we haven’t taken enough consideration to understand if it will help our current state. Better yet, we would do better to consider our problems, and not assume we have a solution, and working through the problem we could come up with an effective solution by truly understanding the problem we are faced with and the most effective solution that could apply.
Sometimes the solution that we desire can create greater problems in the long run. In 1935 it seemed like a good idea to introduce cane toads into Australia to manage the cane beetles. Not only did they not reduce Beetle population, Queensland is now overrun with cane toads.

Main benefits:

  • Using problem solving methodology.
  • Creative problem solving techniques.
  • Properly defined problems.
  • Increased likelihood of right-sized solutions.
  • Inclusion of team in problem solving process.
  • Improved longevity of solution.
